My very first environmentally friendly straws
This is the story of how did I bought my first environmentally friendly steinless steel straws.
Today, I slept in a little later than usual. I spent about 30 minutes lying in bed checking my facebook with just one eye open. It was waaaay to early to open the second eye and actually accept the fact that it was morning and that I had to get up and get going.
That was until I came across a cute picture of a turtle. Did you know that in many cultures around the world, the turtle has a symbolic meaning of longevity (long life)? Well, I am in love with turtles, I think they are the bee’s knees. So, you can imagine my shock when I looked closer and saw that this turtle had a plastic straw sticking out of its head!!!!
I read the article carefully and found out that some nice fishermen had found this little guy just in time to saved his life. But how many other turtles are out there not as fortunate as this one? In fact, not just turtles, but any sea animal. These animals are being subjected to human waste, pollution, and ignorance every single day. Poor little fellas!
However, what was more shocking to me was the fact that I actually use plastic straws!!!!! This straw that was stuck in the turtles head, could have very well been the straw that I used and threw away last night. OMG…..
I quickly sat up in bed and started searching for alternatives to plastic straws. That’s when I found these stainless steel straws on Amazon. They are perfect. I will never have to use a plastic straw again.
What’s more, they come with a cleaning brush and can even be washed in the dishwasher.
